This particular composite hub is capable of withstanding external wind loadings in addition to the forces enacted upon it during wind turbine operation.

  1. It seems like its taken a long time for companies to realize the weight and performance benefits of advanced composites. Dynastrosi Laboratories in the US has been working on a wind turbine built from composites resulting in high performace gains over steel turbines. It is much easier for the wind to push around a composite turbine.
